Complex Text Read Alouds: Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin

I am so excited about my brand new complex text unit on the first grade exemplar text Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin.  This is a great book to use to teach about language, inflectional endings and relevant details.

One of the things I love about this unit is the text coding.  You can make it as rigorous or as easy as you'd like.  The kids have fun with it because we use different kinds of crayons and highlighters.

During the whole group sessions, I provide several differerent pocket chart resources.

There is even a dual purpose craft! :)  In my classroom, I took a math grade for non-standard measurement objectives, and I also took a writing grade! :)

One of the lessons includes differentiated reading passages.  This is the lowest leveled one.
