Spring Things

Happy Resurrection Day to you all! :)
I'm so excited to be a part of a collaborative team of elementary bloggers looking to connect with teachers and encourage students of all backgrounds to be their best in the classroom.  We all teach elementary aged students of diverse backgrounds.  Each of us has a blog and we connect with teachers across the country through our social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.  We all found each other through Teachers Pay Teachers!  Today and tomorrow we are having a SALE! :)  If you are not familiar with a few of these faces, that wouldn't be surprising.  Many of them...although not new to teaching, are new to blogging or TPTing and are looking to find other like minded teachers to connect with!
My store is on sale all day today and tomorrow.  Here are a few items that I'll be using this month that I think could be helpful to you! :)

Here's a brand new writing unit that I've completed for April.  My students will be learning about animals and plants this month!  It will be a great addition to my curriculum.  If you'd like more info on how I explicitly teach writing to my students, check out THIS POST for details.

Check this out HERE.

Students in my room with also be working on learning the nuances of language with a unit that I wrote on the book Quick As A Cricket! :) It's aligned to Common Core standards and is a favorite of my students every year.  There's lots of opportunities for partner work and discussion, so I can observe how well my students are adapting to the information.

First Grade Fluency {April - June}
Check these out HERE.
Of course, we are still working on getting more fluent each month.  I have a variety of resources that I use to do this.  In my classroom, for students who need the fluency practice, but struggle to write out their thinking and are more comfortable with oral response, I use these passages.

For my on grade level students, I use these.
First Grade Fluency: Bridge The Gap {SPRING EDITION}
Check these out HERE.
There are more words for each passage and extended response questions as well!
My students are doing a really great job with them and are growing by leaps and bounds!
We are fantastic readers and writers in Mrs. Russell's Room!  That is for certain.

Second Grade Fluency: April Edition
Check these out HERE.
For my students who are ready for an additional challenge, they get the second grade passages.
I love that they are leveled to a just right fit for them!  They love that too...so there is not much of a dip in performance when they switch over to these!

Last thing...
Spring Themed Sentence Scramble {FREEBIE}

If you like sentence scrambles as much as I do, check out this free one in my TPT store! :)
It's free forever...so, enjoy! :)

Don't forget my sweet 'peeps' who are also doing sales today! :) Check out their social media for more details throughout the day! :)
