Ultimate Wonders Giveaway for Grade One: Unit 1

Over the past two years, my sweet friend Tammy from The Resourceful Apple and I have been working on supplemental units to compliment our Wonders reading series.  We have used the products in our classrooms and shared what works and what doesn't.  We have come to the point where I honestly don't know how I would teach without these supplements!

Last year, I started writing reading assessments for my kiddos when I realized that the texts weren't really appropriate for independent reading.  The students responded incredible well to them and they doubled as a great diagnostic fluency assessment in a pinch!  There are two stories per week, two slightly different levels. There are four multiple choice questions and one short response.  I've also included a focus words sheet that has the key words for the sound of the week, the sight words of the week that were used in the story and even some challenge words!  This would be a great support to teachers that are working with ELL's, ESE, or even below grade level readers.

I made these focus wall resources last year.  I wanted to have something that my students could read from a distance and engage with.  I put them all on binder rings and flip them when I'm moving on to different goals or objectives throughout the week.  These are correlated with the series and I reference them all the time!;)

I also wanted to give my students a bit more support with their grammar instruction and so, I created these NO PREP Printables and mini-assessments.  The printables give the students practice on skills I'm teaching in the classroom.  This pack features differentiated assessments.  One is more of a performance based style that you could give one on one.  The other assessment is more traditional.

My last Wonders resource is my sight word assessments.

I bundle two weeks worth of words onto one assessment and grade it with a rubric.

I don't like having to test every week, and this helps me gain back more instructional time.

Each test is numbered. The words are all written in a student friendly font.

The rubric at the bottom is clear...and parents will know exactly how their students performed based on the level that you circle.
