Mrs. Russell's Long Range Plans for First Grade

I've done long range plans a few different times over the years, and this the first time I am sharing them through my blog.  In the past, I've really felt that true learning happens in the process of doing your plans yourself.  As a mentor, I'd rather teach you to fish, than to give you the fish...make sense?  So, in an effort to encourage independent thought, I'm also offering my template so that you can create an alignment for yourself that works for your learners! :)

I've included some year at a glance pages so that you can see the progression I was taking through the year.  My county gave us a basal text for reading, and I went through and aligned the science and social studies to the stories...but also to a developmentally appropriate progression for the year.  When you are creating your own long range plans, this document might be helpful to you as you put together the themes you want to teach.

Each of the subject areas are aligned to Florida Standards.  That way, when I'm ready to transfer information over to a weekly plan, I've got the standards right at my finger tips.
The dates along the side are there to help me remember when the kids have days off so that I can add that to my weekly calendar.

Here is my page for September.  You can see that I included the overarching goal for ELA, along with the phonics, grammar, and writing skills focus.  The math unit progression aligns with our county basal series.

If you like this template and would like to try it out in your classroom, please sign up for my email updates.  I promise I'll share quality content from my blog that would be interesting to you. :) If I'm doing a special series of blog posts, or offering an exclusive freebie, I'll be announcing that through my mailing list rather than my Facebook posts.  There are so many people on Facebook these days, that the chances of you seeing content from me are slim...no matter what I do. :/  I think this will be the best way to communicate with folks who are excited about communicating with ME! :)

Once you've signed up for my updates, you'll get an email that asks you to confirm that you'd like to get my content.  Once you've confirmed, then you'll get a final email that contains the link to the directions for the template, the template itself, and an embedded link to the You Tube tutorial.

I really can't tell you guys how thankful I am that so many of you were excited about this!
I hope that you'll find it helpful as you work towards pacing your own year out!  I'd love to hear your thoughts on this resource in the comments! :)
