A Peek at my Week: Pre Planning & some freebies!

Greetings fellow educators! :)
I'm really excited to be linking up with Dee Dee over at Mrs. Wills Kindergarten for her link up! :)
I don't start school until next week, so, I thought it would be a good idea to tell you a little bit about how I structure my day, and how I prepare for the children to come in! :)

Well, one of the first things that I do is consider my classroom procedures.

You set the tone for your year in the first three weeks of school.
Knowing what you want and being explicit about that early can turn an ordinary year into an extraordinary year!
Having a cute room is important, but...knowing your procedure for collecting homework, and sharpening pencils, and movement around the room is even MORE important.
This freebie is something that I turn to in my own classroom! :)

This three page freebie has over 120 questions about classroom procedures in a primary classroom.  I go over it at the beginning of each year to make sure that I have procedure for different classroom scenarios that come up.

I have a slide show that I've used for several years.  It has many of the daily procedures in it.
I like to go over it daily during the first two weeks of school.  With older students, I could do it in a day...with my littles, I break it up over a week.  After I go over a slide, I spend a few minutes going over how to perform that particular task.  At the beginning, it takes a while, but...the repeated proper practice results in students who know my expectations explicitly.

It's not very fancy, but...it works!

If you'd like to check out my procedures power point, click HERE.

If you think something like this might work for you, but you'd like to make a few changes, I've made an editable version.

You can click HERE for that.
I've put some text boxes in for you, so you can type whatever you want.
The clip art was created by Phillip Martin.  It is free for classroom use only. :)

Once you set up those procedures, stay the course! :)
It's the most important part of any classroom management plan! :)

Last thing...
Have you checked out our Florida blog hop?
You will certainly want to pick up the wonderful preview freebies that each of the girls offered! :)
My post is all about my beginning of the year pack on behavior! :)
There's lots of suggested anchor texts and some great lessons for the kids on how to get along with each other! :)
