Well friends! I'm back! :)
I met some of the most amazing ladies...and learned so many valuable lessons! :)
Let me share a few with you...
Some people find success quickly. Others slowly.
You may hear something from one successful person...and then someone else says...that won't work.
Guess what...the only thing that works for me...is what is proven that works for me.
Although there will be some similarities between my story and someone else's...really...it's about what works for me as I grow! :)
Follow your own trends. It's important to know if the time I'm spending on social media is really working as much as I'm working it! :) I need to keep track of my progress--intimately.
One of my financial mentors, Kimberly Geswein of KG Fonts was making this point today, and she couldn't be more right. Having my own business is work. In order for me to have success...I have to WORK. Balance is important, sure...but the most successful start up companies have CEO's at the helm that are WORKING. Life does get in the way...but it will also get in the way of my earnings long term if I make excuses.
Who are your mentors?
Who are the people that you do giveaways with?
Do they have a good work ethic?
Are they pushing you to be better than you were before you met them?
Get with people who are going in the same direction that you are...and find people who are a little further along on the path than you are.
You will become who you are in this journey.
Make sure that it's someone you will really like.
I had the opportunity to listen to Deanna Jump give a key note speech at the convention. I cried more than a few tears listening to her story. TPT could not have a better representative for what success should look like. Period.
No one likes a know it all.
It's a heady thing to have the attention of teachers all over the world. To inspire people who you've never met. To have people recognize you all over a convention center and just want one. more. picture. with. you.
We do a job that is often thankless, on a pay scale that almost never reflects our work ethic.
TPT has changed that for so many of us.
When we reach milestones because of the opportunities that this wonderful company has afforded us, may we remember to be thankful for those who have gone before to make the way easier for us. May we remember that our financial success is directly tied to teachers that trusted us enough to open their classroom communities to us. Many of them with their own personal funds.
No matter who you are, or what position you're in...you can help someone else!
You can't be everything to everyone, but find someone to help or encourage along the way!
The opportunity to share products through TPT has made us all better leaders.
Make sure you lead by example, and share your story, so that others will be helped by it!
So...last thing...two and a half years ago, someone suggested that I try out TPT for teaching resources, and the first teacher that I connected with was Erica Bohrer from Erica's Edventures. Anytime I went to her blog, I learned something new, and got better as a teacher. I have several of her products, and my students adore her. Last year, she heard I was having a bad day, and sent me a pack from her store to cheer me up.
I got the chance to meet her at the convention...and almost passed out! LOL!
She was super sweet to me...even though I must have seemed crazy, but...really I am so appreciative for everything that she's meant to our TPT community.
One day, I hope to mean as much to a young teacher as Erica has meant to me! It would be amazing to know that I touched someone's classroom and career in a way that was life changing.
Even though Erica probably doesn't follow my blog...there's a ton of first grade bloggers out there...at least in this part of the bloggysphere I just wanted to say, thanks for inspiring me! :) I'm successful in part to your mentorship! :) Hope I make ya proud! :)
