Five for Friday

Thanks for stopping in today! :)  I'm linking up with Kasey over at Doodle Bugs Teaching once again! :)  The Five for Friday is a list of five random items for the week! :)  This was a really great week in my classroom, so I am excited to chat with you all for a bit! :)

So this week, my randomness is all about SPACE!!!

Random Item #1: I am in love with the movie Battleship.  It's really ridiculous. I know. I've watched it so many times it's embarassing to even talk about it.  I've seen it so much that now it's just background noise when I'm working...but, I still love it.  It is on right now as I'm posting! LOL! :)

Random Item #2: This week, we wrapped up our unit on space! :)  Today, we wrote about a day that we had with an alien.  The students did an impressive job! :)  I'll have a more lengthy post on this over the weekend.  They made me so proud! :)

Random Item #3:  Back to my Battleship movie theme...so, we've got a subscription to Brain Pop.  If you're not familiar, it's an online resource with videos for children to watch.  We watched a video on aliens to learn a bit more about them.  During the video, we learned about how there is an organization called SETI (the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) that sends radio frequencies into outer space looking for other forms of intelligent life!  Just like in my movie!!!  I thought that was pretty cool.


Random Item #4:  Something that I like that is....OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD....(like how I tie wine into space?)  Is this Roscato from the Olive Garden.  It's the perfect way to finish off a stressful day.  Trust me! :)
This wine is the yummiest tasting stuff in the whole wide world!  I. AM. SERIOUS.  If you like things that are sweet...and red...this is for you! :)

Random Item #5: We read lots of books on space this week, but two of my favorites are Going Around the Sun: Planetary Fun from Marianne Berkes.  She came to visit our school a few years ago and read it to our students.  Another book that I like is a little student created gem from Scholastic called Poor Pluto. Great paired texts for any primary classroom's space themed unit! :)

    I love Marianne Berkes! Her granddaughter goes to our school and she comes every year to promote her new books:) Primary kids love her text and the illustrations are fabulous too:)

    Thanks so much for posting on my blog Tamara! I just had to check yours out and it's super cute! I love that you have a National Boards button posted near the top, I'm certified too :) I'll have to check out the Roscato because, although I'm not a red drinker at all, I love SWEET stuff!
